The Ruggery has moved to a new Location

The Ruggery has been in business since 1921. We have only been in 2 previous locations and felt is was time to move. We searched areas on the north shore of Long Island and found a perfect spot in Locust Valley NY. Having many design shops in the area (Meg Braff Interiors, Andrew Maier, Windham House, Marilyn H. Rose) to name a few. This area is a great fit for our new location 141 Birch Hill Rd

You can now come to our new shop and see rugs being made on location. The Ruggery is one of the few remaining business’s still making rugs in our Long Island location, just as we have since 1921. All of our wool is hand dye for each rug and then hooked in through a cotton backing with our craftsman punch needle. Each rug is a one of a kind creation as they have been for the past 90 years. George Wells or mentor started making rugs for the Ruggery in the mid 1950s and has left us with and archive of designs that span more then 5 decades.

All are welcome to come in a browse our designs from early parts of the century thru today’s “new” geometrics patterns.

Our design team will help guide you thru the perfect selection of designs to help make you a one of a kind design for your beautiful Home.

I remember George – he wouldn’t remember me.

After making my design, and purchasing the needle and fabric, that is as far as I’ve ever gotten – and that was back in the 1960s.

I’m still a lover of the handmade rugs. So will continue to take interest.

Best of health and luck in your new location.

Waving from southern CA since 1996.

Are you still printing a catalog of supplies and color brochure, including the Craftsman Punch Needle? I am back at this wonderful art, after learning it in the 70’s.
